Building Well
Making fitness fun again. Helping others achieve goals, and pour into the things that make them whole.
My fitness journey did not begin with a polished plan. It began early in the morning at Gold’s Gym, training with a friend before work. At the time, I knew I had some natural strength, but I also knew I lacked coordination, confidence, and direction.
Finding CrossFit gave me a methodology that made sense to me. It challenged me to build strength, conditioning, skills, and discipline at the same time. It also showed me how much the right environment and the right coaching can change the way someone sees themselves.
As I became more invested in training, I earned my CrossFit Level 1 credential and began coaching. I started a Kids CrossFit class at my home gym and later filled in for adult classes. The kids called me “Coach Ant,” and while that was never a brand or a persona, it remains one of the most meaningful parts of my coaching history.
Then the pandemic changed the gym environment. I left, built a garage gym, and continued training independently. That chapter taught me that training can continue almost anywhere when the habit and purpose are there. I reached new personal records, but I also learned that fitness is more meaningful when it is connected to people.
Life changed again. I took on more work, went through a divorce, moved, and let my CrossFit Level 1 credential expire. Through all of that, the part I missed most was coaching: helping someone learn a movement, build trust in their body, stay consistent, or accomplish something they did not think was possible.
Build Well is my return to that work.
